WINNIPEG — Almost a week after Brandon police launched an investigation into a syringe found in a Halloween treat bag – officers determined it was due to a cat.
On Oct. 31, a 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl from Brandon said they found the unused syringe after returning from trick-or-treating.

Brandon police investigated and said the syringe was knocked into a bowl of treats by a pet cat that spilled a box of insulin syringes.
It was unintentionally put into the treat bag and the incident is not malicious, police said.
