WINNIPEG – A vacant building order placed on the James Ave. pumping station slated for major redevelopment will be appealed by CentreVenture next week.

The pumping station has been vacant since 1986 but is set to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation that will convert the building into a residential and commercial space.

The order requiring the owner of the building to either a get a boarded building permit or secure all its openings was issued on September 7.

On September 16 Angela Mathieson, president and CEO of CentreVenture Development Corporation, filed an appeal.

“We respectfully appeal this Order, as the Pumping Station is currently a construction site, not a vacant building requiring a Boarded Building Permit,” it read.

The appeal is scheduled to be heard next Tuesday.
