Making A Difference: Leave Out Violence

Leave out Violence (LOVE) is one of the leading national youth violence prevention organizations in Canada.

Through instructive programming in digital photography, video, broadcasting and journalism, youth learn how to document the issues related to violence in their lives and explore more positive alternatives.

Lana Feinstein, Executive Director of LOVE, believes young people will examine and explore through a camera lens many forms of violence and prevention.

“We have them dialogue about bullying and gangs and domestic violence. They talk about self harm and racism, things that are very meaningful to them” says Lana.

Zane Holder, a youth leader at LOVE, has been part of the program for the past fifteen years and has not looked back.

“What brought me to this program was the need to do better within my community. This was something much more bigger than me and that’s when I realized I really needed to be in this program” says Zane.

A diverse team of professionals work with these young people in a unique and safe setting.

“What’s unique about the organization is that we bring them together so that they know they’re not alone, that there are other people who have been challenged by violence, and that they have an opportunity to be empowered and to work together to make meaningful change in their lives” says Lana.
