Prisoner who escaped from Ontario arrested in Leduc, Alta.

Leduc RCMP said a 48-year-old man, wanted in Ontario for escaping lawful custody, was arrested at a bank in Leduc, Alta. Tuesday after an observant person called them.

According to police, officers were called to the CIBC at 50 Street and 50 Avenue when they received a report of a man inside believed to be wanted in connection with the Ontario escape.

When officers arrived, they arrested Philip Robert Crosby without incident. Police said Crosby currently faces additional charges in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Among the charges he faces are robbery with violence, personation with Intent, impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, breaching a conditional sentence order and criminal flight.

Mounties said Crosby remains in police custody pending a judicial interim release hearing.
