Southern Alberta’s Creepy Hollow is open for another season of frights.

Owner Glory Reimer said it’s been a long year of upgrades at the Hollow, and guarantees this year will not disappoint.

“My favorite part is when I’m somewhere, anywhere in the haunt, it could be anywhere, and I overhear somebody who doesn’t know I’m there, and they’re like ‘this is the best thing ever,'” Reimer said. “You’re just so proud and you’ve done something good enough to make people want to come back.”

The Halloween-themed farm and campground near Warner, Alta. has only been open for two years. The Reimers previously hosted visitors at their ‘haunted’ mansion in Stirling, Alta., but were forced to relocate. The mansion was issued a Stop Order from the Village of Stirling, which stated that Richard and Glory Reimer were conducting business on residential property not approved by its bylaws.

Now at the new, bigger location, they said it’s a labour of love to keep Creepy Hollow running and come up with new ideas, but they are happy to do it.

“What makes this location unique is that we have added the camping experience,” Reimer said. “People can come and camp and they can get scared.”

“I had one lady came up to me she says ‘my boyfriend is so afraid of the Sasquatch. Can you dress up and come to our tent in the middle of the night?” Reimer said. “It’s something you can enjoy all year long.”

Creepy Hollow continues to expand with new scares and spooks around every corner, with tricks you won’t expect.

With less than a week to go, the Reimers are ready to give southern Albertans quite the fright leading up to the finale: Halloween night.

“What I would say to someone who has never been but is dying to try, is you just got to do it. Just take the time and go do it because you’re going to love it and want to keep coming back.”
