WINNIPEG — A local food pop up took over The Forks Saturday to showcase what Manitoba has to offer.
The Love Local Manitoba Pop Up is just a sneak peak of what people can expect to see in March.
The event that ran Saturday afternoon showcased 20 local food developers. But, in March, the actual event will host around 60 food developers.
“These are the small businesses, the back bones of our economy. That money that’s being spent here is staying her,” said Sherry Sobey, one of the local food developers in attendance.
Sobey explained that in today’s day and age there are far too many big box stores that are over shadowing the local ones. Saying that’s why Love Local Manitoba is so important.
