Update (12:51 p.m. ET): Websites and services including Airbnb, Spotify and gaming company Ubisoft continue to be affected by an ongoing DDoS attack against Domain Name Server (DNS) provider Dyn.
Shortly before 1 p.m. ET Friday afternoon, Dyn announced it was continuing to mitigate a DDoS attack against its DNS network.
The White House press secretary also confirmed Friday that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating the attacks.

Anyone using sites such as Twitter, Spotify, Netflix and SoundCloud may experience outages Friday, thanks to a widespread outage of Domain Name Server (DNS) provider Dyn.
According to a report from TechCrunch, several popular websites and services experienced disruptions Friday morning as a result of the outage, which was caused by a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) attack on the company.
A statement on Dyn’s website confirmed that the DNS provider had been targeted with a DDoS attack, often used by hacker groups to bring down websites by flooding the site with requests until its servers crash. As of Friday morning, the company said it had crews working to fix the outage.
At time of publishing, Global News was able to access websites such as Twitter, Spotify and SoundCloud; however, on social media, reports continued to pour in citing outages for Netflix, Twitter, Spotify and even PayPal.
Spotify issued a statement to its Twitter feed confirming the outage.
Many PlayStation users have also been complained that the gaming system is down.
