If you use your Visa card at Walmart stores in Manitoba, you won’t be able to starting Monday.
Walmart Canada and Visa are locked in a battle over merchant fees, since the retail giant declared back in June that it payed more than $100 million in annual fees and would stop accepting the credit card.
The U.S.-based retail giant said the change will come into effect at all 16 locations in the province as of Oct. 24. Customers will still be able to pay for purchases with cash, debit, MasterCard and American Express cards.
Walmart stopped accepting Visa cards at three stores in Thunder Bay in July.
Spokesperson Alex Roberton said Manitoba was chosen second because it provided a “seamless transition” but didn’t elaborate on why. He confirmed that the policy is still on track to roll out nationwide, but wasn’t able to provide a timeline for any other provinces.

The credit card company called the decision to expand the ban on their card “disappointing.”
“Walmart’s decision to further limit Visa acceptance in Manitoba is disappointing,” a Visa spokesperson said in an email to Global News.
