Rarely has the ending to major league sports season been as dramatic as the closing day of the 2016 MLB season.
With the Toronto Blue Jays (88-73) having won on Saturday night and with the Baltimore Orioles (88-73) and Detroit Tigers (86-74) having lost, the playoff picture became slightly clearer but it is not yet complete.
For the Blue Jays, it’s simple math. Win and you are in the wild card game.

The Blue Jays will throw the red-hot Aaron Sanchez on the mound Sunday when they visit the division-leading Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox still have something to settle as they will send former Blue Jay David Price to the mound for David Ortiz’s final regular season game in a Red Sox uniform. Boston will be looking to clinch home-field advantage ahead of the Cleveland Indians when they face Toronto Sunday.
Meanwhile, Baltimore shares a similar scenario to the Jays. They will also need a win.

The two teams are tied, though since the Jays won the head-to-head battle between them in the regular season, the game would be held at Rogers Centre if the pair were to meet in the wild card game.
If the Jays and Orioles were to lose, the Detroit Tigers are lurking just 1 1/2 games behind. If the Tigers win Sunday and a make-up game on Monday, they would enter a three-way with the Jays and Orioles if both those teams lose Sunday.
