The Edmonton Oilers logo, which was once on display on the outside of Rexall Place, has found a new home at a local countertop business.
The owners of MGS Company, which supplies granite countertops to local builders in Edmonton, were the lucky winners of a couple of auctions, as the Edmonton Oilers sold off several items from the old barn.
“It’s something we wanted to showcase for all of our customers here,” Linda Ling, director of MGS, said.
“We’ve loved the Edmonton Oilers for years and years. They’re our team.”
MGS spent more than $26,000 on two items. The company is now the proud owner of the massive Oilers logo, which measures about 10 feet in diameter, and the Edmonton Oilers 25th anniversary metal logo, which weighs more than 600 pounds.

“We weren’t thinking it was going to be that high but we still think it’s a great thing we did. First of all it’s for charity,” Ling explained. “The charity going into the inner city meant a whole lot to us over here.
“We are very proud to be the owner of this memorable piece of the Oilers over here and have it up on our building for as long as it can be.”
The 25th anniversary logo is now set up inside the MGS office in south Edmonton. The Oilers logo is proudly on display on the outside of the building, along with a new slogan that reads “Die hard fans of the Edmonton Oilers.”

These items, along with several other Rexall Place keepsakes, were auctioned off as part of the Edmonton Oilers annual auction. This year saw a few more memorable items on the auction block as the team prepared to move into Rogers Place.
