Corey Feldman is back in the spotlight, but the latest news is not positive.

The ’80s child star recently appeared on the Today show, showcasing his band Corey’s Angels, and the public reception wasn’t quite what he had anticipated. Posting a video on Facebook (which has since been deleted), Feldman admitted that he and one of the “Angels”, Courtney Anne, had been devastated by the negative reaction generated from the performance.

“We just wanted to tell everybody that, like, it’s been really painful,” Feldman griped of the admittedly bizarre performance. “We put ourselves out there and we did the best that we could. And, like, I’ve never had such mean things said about me. Like constantly.”

Feldman’s odd spectacle quickly went viral, and social media comments tended toward the negative. At one point in the video, reports People, Feldman begins to sob.

“All we can say is that we tried really hard,” Feldman said tearfully. “Because we love our fans and we just wanted to give them the best show that we could. But we don’t deserve… these things that are said about us are awful.”

It turns out there’s more to the story: one of Corey’s so-called Angels, Krystal Khali (who goes by the stage name Tragic Star), bailed out of the Today appearance four days prior to the show. She had been asked to perform with the four other Angels. When Feldman first caught wind of Khali backing out, he left an angry, disturbing voicemail for her. Among other things, Feldman says that if she didn’t show up in New York for the performance, she’d “never get another f**king gig in LA.”

“You know I spent real money, and you know that I am struggling, and you know how hard it’s been to get to this point, and no person would do this… unless you are a soulless, careless, inhumane f**king piece of s**t,” he says in the voicemail.

“I kind of knew it was gonna be a s**tshow and an embarrassment,” Khali told Page Six on why she opted out of the performance. She also added that Feldman’s dancing during rehearsals “was distracting… I couldn’t look at him.”

Khali also denies that Feldman spent any of his money on her flight to L.A. for rehearsal (she used a roommate’s air miles), but agrees that he paid for her flight to New York. She insinuates that when she first met Feldman in 2015 while performing a show together, he was hinting that things turn sexual between them.

Despite the show organizer offering Khali her own room, Feldman insisted she stay with him and Courtney Anne in his room, in case they “needed to rehearse.”

“I got the impression that Corey was wanting to lead it into a sexual direction… he didn’t say anything outright. No one was disrobing,” Khali told Page Six.

Feldman has not commented on the leaked voicemail recording but said last week that his mocked Today performance isn’t dissuading him from pursuing his musical dream.
