Calgary police have identified two people gunned down in the community of Redstone on Tuesday night.

Police were called to a home in the 0-100 block of Redstone Manor N.E. at around 8 p.m. for reports of shots fired.

When they arrived, officers found Quang Chi Tran, 38, dead in the front passenger seat of a vehicle in the home’s attached garage, and Cuc Lung, 34, in the driver’s seat, suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Lung was rushed to hospital where she later died. Her five-year-old son was in the back seat of the car at the time of the shooting. Two other people were in the house, including Lung’s other child.

Investigators said the attack was targeted and gang-related.

Lung and Tran were in a common-law relationship, and police said Lung had a “lengthy history of being associated to multiple criminal networks in the city.”

“It would appear … that the victims were possibly being monitored,” Insp. Don Coleman of the CPS Major Crimes Unit said in a Wednesday news conference. “[They] arrived at the residence, pulled into the garage and the attack occurred at that point.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or the Homicide Unit Tip Line at 403-428-8877. Tips can also be anonymously submitted by contacting Crime Stoppers.
