Timothy Flanders ran in the game-winning touchdown from two yards out early in the fourth quarter. The running back logged a total of 136 yards against the Argonauts. Flanders found out an hour before kickoff he would make his first CFL start in place of an injured Andrew Harris.

Toronto quarterback Dan LeFevour threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns to help put the Argonauts in front 22-19 at halftime. Winnipeg’s only major in the first two quarters was a 98 yard kickoff return by Quincy McDuffie.

The Argonauts added to their lead early in the third quarter as Kenny Shaw caught a three yard LeFevour pass for his second touchdown of the game. Winnipeg replied by exploding for 27 unanswered points. Matt Nichols completed a 15 yard pass to Clarence Denmark just a few minutes later for the Bombers’ first offensive touchdown of the game. The drive was started by a Chris Randle interception which placed Winnipeg on Toronto’s 51 yard line. Randle also had five defensive tackles in his first game back from a seven-week-long injury.

Nichols later punched in a one yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put Winnipeg up 42-29. The Bombers quarterback completed 24 of 33 pass attempts for 232 yards and a touchdown along with 19 rushing yards in the game.

Justin Medlock hit all six of his field goal attempts including a 53-yard kick in the win.

McDuffie and receiver Gerrard Sheppard were both injured in the win. An update on their status was not provided following the game.

The game marked Drew Willy’s return to Winnipeg where he played three seasons. The quarterback did not take a single snap against his former team. Willy was traded to Toronto last Sunday in exchange for defensive back TJ Heath, a first round draft pick in 2017 and a third round draft pick in 2018. The Bombers acquired quarterback Kevin Glenn from the Montreal Alouettes the same day in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in 2018.
