RCMP officers are investigating and following up on several leads following a brazen jewelry robbery in a Richmond shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Mounties, three suspects armed with hammers entered a jewelry store on the second floor of a mall in the 4100-block of Hazelbridge Way and smashed several display cases.

The trio of suspects were all wearing dark clothing and surgical masks and were reportedly dressed as construction workers. The three fled in a grey GMC Sierra pickup truck after the robbery.

No injuries were reported but the store staff was visibly shaken. The amount of jewelry taken in the heist has not been disclosed.

Police, along with the Air-One helicopter, scoured the area for the suspects. Officers were able to find the abandoned pickup truck in the 9300-block of Capstan Way and it was on file as being stolen from Surrey.
