It will be a jam-packed three hour visit for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they visit the Okanagan on September 27.

Will and Kate officially start their visit at UBC Okanagan, taking a stroll through the university’s courtyard.

“Who would have imagined this little campus, 10 years old, and here we are, our first royal visit,” said UBC deputy vice-chancellor Deborah Buszard.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

If you’re looking to see the royal couple, this is your best bet and could possibly be the only event in the Okanagan open to the general public.

University staff are warning it will be very busy and are asking everyone to take public transit to the event.

Next, the Duke and Duchess will watch the nationally ranked UBC Okanagan Heat women’s volleyball team in action at the campus gym. It hasn’t been fully decided yet, but this will likely be a student-only event.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said head coach Steve Manuel. “It’s a great honour.”

The royal couple will then head to West Kelowna for a private government-run event at Mission Hill Family Estate.

“For them to visit us is a gift that will help the region immensely” said owner Anthony von Mandl.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte won’t be taking in the Okanagan portion of the Canadian trip, but will be at events at the beginning and end of the tour.
