Criminal charges are being considered for an arson in North Vancouver that allegedly involves four teens.
On Sept. 11., North Vancouver RCMP and fire department were called to a roof fire at Dorothy Lynas Elementary School.
The fire, which was determined to arson, was quickly put out and no one was injured. Damage to the school’s roof was considered moderate by investigators.
Police identified four teens as allegedly being responsible for setting the fire and investigators believe the damage to the roof was caused after an aerosol can was placed on a small fire started by teens on the roof.
According to RCMP, the teens became scared when the small fire grew very quickly and got out of control.
“Unfortunately their criminal behaviour has led to some serious consequences,” said North Vancouver RCMP Cpl. Richard De Jong in a statement.
The teens, all males, have been identified and their parents contacted by police. None of the teens attend the elementary school.
Mounties said the investigation is ongoing with criminal charges or extra-judicial measures being considered.
