A man charged with attempted murder in a shooting that happened New Year’s Eve 2013 who’d since been released on a recognizance order went missing last Friday.

Calgary police are asking for the public’s help to find Chayce Anthony Krause, who broke house arrest and left his “approved residence” Aug. 26. Police said Monday they believe he’s left the Calgary area.

Canada-wide warrants for breach of recognizance have been issued for the 21-year-old. He’s described as 5’7” with a slim build. Police said he has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen in black pants and a black nylon zip-up jacket. He was carrying a backpack.

Emergency crews arrived at a home in the 400 block of Athlone Road S.E. just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2013. A man in his early 30s sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries to his torso after being shot while in his backyard.

Krause was arrested and charged with attempted murder Jan. 8, 2014.
