North Shore Rescue is reminding the public to be prepared before setting out on a hike after yet another rescue on Mount Seymour.

It was the group’s second rescue mission this weekend.

Two hikers called for help Saturday night after they got lost near Elsay Lake. Crews weren’t able to bring them out before nightfall so the pair had to hunker down in an emergency shelter for the night.

At daybreak, NSR airlifted them off the mountain. The two women, who were dressed in shorts and light jackets, were cold but otherwise unharmed.

“They’re really lucky that they found that cabin and there’s people there who helped take care of them until our guys showed up,” North Shore Rescue search manager Jeff Yarnold said.

Rescued hiker Carrie Davie thanked North Shore Rescue and admitted she could have been better prepared.

“Make sure to bring a map. This could have been totally ignored if we just had a proper map or a compass,” she said.

Earlier Saturday, three lost hikers had to be rescued on Crown Mountain. Rescuers say the trio was simply lost.
