WINNIPEG — 24-year-old dirt racer, Amber Balcaen, made history Saturday night on the race track in USA.

The Winnipeger became the first Canadian-born female racer to win a NASCAR-sanctioned race in USA at Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia.

She announced on her Facebook account that she became the first Canadian woman to win a NASCAR race in the USA and said, “my hands are still shaking from excitement!!!! Thank you to everyone for the support!!!”

Balcaen isn’t the first to strap on a helmet in her family. In fact, a third generation driver, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather.
