WINNIPEG — A day after tornado warnings were issued in parts of the Interlake, Environment Canada has issued an advisory for a good portion of the south.

Residents in these areas should be on the look out Wednesday for the development of funnel clouds.

The southeastern part of the province, including Winnipeg, is currently not part of the advisory.

The next weather pattern that is moving through the south is expected to fire off scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.

Most of these storms will be weak in nature, but the converging winds could provide enough rotation for funnel clouds to form.

Most of these funnel clouds are usually consistent with weak rotation and are normally not a danger to the ground. However weak landspout tornadoes may be produced.

Thursday we’ll still be left with a chance of showers as this system moves out of the region but our weather should a bit more stable.

We can also expect gusty winds out of the north early in the day.
