Winnipeg Rifles running back named player of the week after career game

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Rifles running back Michael Ritchott was chosen the Offensive Player of the Week for the Prairie Football Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League on Tuesday.

Ritchott had the fourth most rushing yards in a single game in CJFL history in Saturday’s 42-28 win over the Edmonton Wildcats in their home opener. The former Grant Park Pirates’ running back had 33 carries for 358 yards with two touchdowns. He also had a nine yard reception to post a total of 367 combined yards. The Rifles finished the game with 556 yards of net offence.

The Rifles put their 1-1 record on the line on Saturday when they host the Regina Thunder at 7:00 p.m. at Investors Group Field.
