A motorcyclist who police said sped through Banff, failed to stop at a red light and fled from police Friday, is facing charges.
On Monday, Banff RCMP said the motorcycle was “driving dangerously and speeding on Highway 1” after evading police in the town site.
Canmore RCMP later found the driver and bike on the side of the road, east of Dead Man’s Flats. The driver was arrested when he tried to run away from officers.
“Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle was stolen and the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish and several types of prescription medication,” RCMP said in a statement Monday.
Calgarian Zacharia Roland Nagy, 26, has been charged with 17 offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resist arrest, breaching probation and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
He’s been remanded into custody and is set to appear in Canmore court Aug. 24.
Anyone with information on the incident or any illegal activity is asked to call Canmore RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
