Olympic fever has swept the nation, with Team Canada collecting 21 medals at the 2016 Rio Summer Games as of Friday evening.
From Penny Oleksiak’s four medals in the pool to an exciting battle on the track between Canada’s Andre De Grasse and Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, there’s been no shortage of incredible Olympic moments over the past couple of weeks.

While it may be hard to pinpoint one stand-out moment, a number of Edmonton elementary-aged kids weighed in on their Olympic highlights as the games start to wind down.
“I think that the Olympics have been kind of competitive between the top three or five, except for the United States since they’re a couple dozen medals ahead,” Michael Nickolchuk said.

For Katie Johnston, 16-year-old Oleksiak’s feat in the pool was pretty impressive.
“That was amazing to see because she’s so young,” Johnston said, adding she’d like to be a soccer star if she were to compete in the Olympics.
“I couldn’t believe it when I first heard,” Nickolchuk added. “I was thinking, ‘this must be some sort of typo’ but she’s actually 16 and she won four medals!”

When it came to the men’s 200-metre sprint Thursday night, Nicholas Poitras knew who would take home the gold.
“I knew that Usain Bolt was going to win but I could not believe that De Grasse was actually going to come second. I guessed third or fourth,” he said.
“Second is absolutely amazing.”
