Vandals shoot holes in sign at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump historic site

Alberta RCMP are searching for information related to the vandalism of a welcome sign at a national historic site.

Fort Macleod RCMP said someone shot holes into the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump sign sometime between July 29 and Aug. 3. RCMP said the shooter made holes for eyes in the buffaloes’ heads.

The sign, valued at $200,000, is located at a rural location west of Fort Macleod that’s a major tourist attraction in the province.

RCMP said the site manager noticed upon his return to work after the long weekend.

It’s the third such time the sign has been vandalized in the past two years.
