Danielle Eden-Scheinberg and her husband are the owners of Dog Tales, a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on 50 acres in King City.

This incredible location is complete with walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa. It is simply perfect for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while waiting for their forever homes.

“We have about 100 dogs here right now, 70 horses, five ponies, a donkey, a mule, two cows, two blind pigs, four bunnies and four ducks,” said Eden-Scheinberg.

Rather than concrete floors and metal bars, each dog is given a room that reflects a home environment. There are 45 full-time staff and more than 100 volunteers like Kathy Doerner, who provide all the animals with support and unconditional love.

“There is a vibration I feel,” said Doerner. “It is like a vortex almost of just healing and compassion and hope in so many ways. We see so many of the dogs that come in and know by looking at them that they have had a very hard time. Then we get to work with them and we see them come out of their shells. They are getting a good chance at a good life here.”

The mission of Dog Tales is not only to find homes for dogs, but to find the right homes for them. If an appropriate home cannot be found, they stay at Dog Tales forever.

Since opening just over a year ago, Dog Tales has found loving families for more than 600 dogs and has provided a permanent retirement home for 75 horses.

“I always used to go to the streets collecting dogs, helping animals and feeding horses,” said Eden-Scheinberg. “It is hard emotionally, but it is worth it.”
