Pilots landing at Pearson Airport report beam of light; police say likely laser

TORONTO – Police have launched a criminal investigation after a beam of light was reportedly pointed at a plane landing at Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

Pilots landing an aircraft Tuesday evening reported seeing the light, which police say likely came from a laser pointer.

No one was injured.

Police aren’t releasing any information about the flight itself.

There’s a maximum penalty of $10,000 and up to five years in jail for shining a bright light at an airplane.
