Police discovered a 35-year-old man killed inside a home in Kelowna’s Rutland neighbourhood Friday morning.

RCMP said they were called to the 400-block of Hein Road just after 6 a.m. for reports of shots fired.

“It’s nerve wrecking that it happened next door. What if one of those bullets hit one of our houses? An innocent person could’ve got hurt,” said neighbour Jacob Thompson.

Police believe this was not a random attack.

“No arrests have been made at this time as police continue to search for suspects,” Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey wrote in a press release.

O’Donaghey said the detachment’s Serious Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation, adding the unit is working closely with the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service.
