Nearly 600 Okanagan Falls residents are still being asked to boil their water after E. coli was first detected in the water system one week ago.

The local irrigation district thought at the time that it may have been a false positive. There’s some indication that it may have been right.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

The potentially dangerous bacteria was discovered during a weekly routine test.

The Okanagan Falls Irrigation District said since then, three samples were taken and all three results have come up negative for E. coli.

However, Interior Health must make the call to rescind the boil water notice.

So until then, residents living in the lower zone need to boil their water for at least a minute before drinking or using.
