Victoriaville man dies in single-vehicle crash after hitting guardrail, tree, house and pole

MONTREAL – A 54-year-old man from Victoriaville is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Saint-Georges-de-Windsor in the Eastern Townships

According to police, the driver somehow left the road, crashed into a guardrail, hit a tree and a house before slamming into a pole and coming to a stop.

Quebec provincial police were called to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Brouillard Road and Principale Street at around at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Attempts were made to resuscitate the man, who was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

He died of his injuries a few hours later.

Collision experts were at the scene overnight, and the road was closed for several hours as police investigated.

The cause of the accident is still unknown but police believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
