WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg bakery has found inspiration for a new cupcake thanks to the United States presidential election.
Cake-ology has created a cupcake made to look like Donald Trump.
Dubbed Donald “Trumpcake”, the dessert is vanilla flavoured with vanilla buttercream icing but that isn’t want makes it look like The Donald.
“It is tinted a lovely shade of orange to match the fake tan,” said Samatha Luczenczyn, with Cake-ology.
The bakers also sourced yellow banana flavoured cotton candy to top it off as the comb over.
The business also has a sign out front asking “who wore it better” referring to Trump’s hair or the cupcake’s cotton candy.
“A lot of people have come in and thought that is hilarious,” said Luczenczyn, who has noticed people take pictures of the sign.
Luczenczyn said it all started with a sketch on the sign that turned out so well they decided to replicate the drawing in cupcake form.
“Why don’t we do something with Trump and poke fun while we can,” she said. “I searched for cotton candy and tried making it myself but I finally found some.”
They retail for $3 each and the bakery will have them until it closes on Saturday. Luczenczyn also plans to bring them back in November right when Americans head to the polls.
