A 12-year-old Florida boy has been charged after allegedly confessing to killing a four-month-old baby, according to police on Wednesday.
The unidentified boy was arrested on July 27 for the December 2015 death after investigators said the 12-year-old told them he had put a pillow over the infant’s face to make it stop crying.
The baby was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV News, the boy has been charged with manslaughter.
A resident in the neighbourhood where the young child was arrested told CBS News the family has only lived in their home for about two years.
The 12-year-old was reported to have been taken to a juvenile assessment centre.
He is also expected to go before a judge Thursday.
The boy will “more than likely” be treated as an adult during the trial, according to CBS.
