A member of the Kelowna Fire Department told Global News it’s not clear at this point how his lower arm got stuck in the Conibear trap, which is known to trap and kill small animals.

After getting part of his arm trapped, officials say the man went to the garage to try and free himself but when he was unable to, he made the distressing 9-1-1 call himself.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance paramedics and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
