A man was thrown over the off ramp of the MacKay Bridge in Halifax in an early morning motorcycle crash Friday.
Police say the 19-year-old man was thrown 60-70 feet down a steep embankment, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor.
Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency’s rope rescue team responded to the scene along with paramedics and police.
Paramedics stabilized the man on a stretcher and then the rope rescue team rappelled the man back up the embankment.
Emergency crews were called to the area at 4:20 a.m. Barrington Street was closed in both directions from the MacKay Bridge off-ramp to Africville Road until 7:30 a.m.
Northbound traffic on Barrington Street was being redirected down Africville Road.
