There’s nothing quite like jamming out to your favourite beats under the sun so we asked a few choice Corus celebs to share their go-to summer tunes. Take a listen, maybe you’ll even add some to your summer playlist!

Willy Percy is listening to mash-ups all summer long

For me, summer music means dropping the windows, cranking the volume, and “adhering” to the posted speed limit. The three songs that have my attention this summer are mash-ups. Songs you can sing along to, but that have a new feel because of this treatment. Prepare to drop, crank, and adhere!

My current favourite is Mark Vidler’s mash-up of The Doors, Verve, Beatles and Julian Cope.

I also enjoy, Go Home Productions’ Rolling Confusion featuring the Rolling Stones and the Temptations. With the Stones’ Street Fighting Man, Slave, and a finish from Gimme Shelter, you have a modern hit.

From the 6ix to the Prairies – Brandon Gonez loves it all!

As a Toronto native living in the Prairies my playlist is all over the place! I think we can all agree that summer time is the best time. But it’s even better when RiRi is singing, “Work, work, work, work” or “Baby, this is what you came for.” I can’t stop listening to This Is What You Came For by Calvin Harris (ft. Rihanna). If you can’t dance, resort to doing the body roll, it never fails!

I love a good road trip and in Saskatchewan a good throwback is required. Now, I fully admit I cannot sing but I love belting out to Lovers in a Dangerous Time by Barenaked Ladies.  However, when driving in the city, whether in the 306 or the 416, there’s no better feeling than listening to Drake. My favourite Drake song right now is Controlla ft. Popcaan.  I also want to give a shout out to my favourite artist, Frank Ocean! I’m awaiting your new album this summer with high expectations.

Travel back a few summers with Roz Weston

A few songs I love this summer are: Ride by Twenty One Pilots, Disciples by Tame Impala, Kiss This by The Struts, U-Turn by Tegan and Sara, Changes by Charles Bradley, and Send My Love (To Your Lover) by Adele. I find myself gravitating to these songs because they have the type of beat that can transport you from your car, to laying poolside while soaking up the sun. Once I have cruised through everything new, I always go back and blast some old Joan Jett, Zeppelin, and Jimmy Cliff (my ultimate go-to).There’s nothing like music that has the power to take you back a few summers!

Ryan Parker’s Tragically Hip road trip

Each summer my wife and I pack up our minivan and drive approximately two-thousand (very long) kilometres from Toronto to Inverness, Cape Breton to visit my in-laws. Our must haves for the drive are:

  1. Our 3 kids
  2. Coffee
  3. Egg salad sandwiches (my wife’s thing, weird I know)
  4. A summer playlist

This summer is all about The Tragically Hip. Earlier this year the band announced that front man Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Despite the unfortunate diagnosis, the band will still be touring across Canada this summer. While my family and I won’t be able to attend any of the gigs, we’ll definitely be listening to one of Canada’s greatest talents as we travel across our beautiful country.

I’ll be listening to these Tragically Hip songs all summer: Everytime You Go, Little Bones, Long Time Running, Fully Completely, Courage, Wheat Kings, Nautical Disaster, Ahead by a Century, Bobcaygeon, In View, The Last Recluse,  and Toot Toot Chugga Chugga Big Red Car by The Wiggles (got to keep the baby happy, too).
