TORONTO – Ontario’s police watchdog is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was fatally shot last month along a rail corridor in west Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit says there was a confrontation between the man and Toronto police officers on June 17.

It says the man was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

But the SIU says it has been unable to identify the man.

In an effort to determine his identity, the SIU has released images of the man along with several reported aliases – John Doe, Roy Norman, Chung Nu, and Jonathan Grant.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
