Chief Roy Whitney made the announcement Monday morning. He described three planned projects called Tsuut’ina Park, Tsuut’ina Crossing and Tsuut’ina Centre:

  • Tsuut’ina Park will include entertainment and hospitality venues as well as high-value retail opportunities.
  • Tsuut’ina Crossing will be home to a research campus and mixed-use areas, in a park-like setting.
  • The Tsuut’ina Centre, meanwhile, will contain a range of retail, commercial and community services.

The historic project is expected to bring jobs and economic prosperity for generations to come.

“The real motivation is to create opportunity and allow generations of Tsuut’ina people to work and flourish right here at home,” Whitney said Monday. “In this development lies the opportunity for generations of Tsuut’ina people to work, to receive services, to shop, to learn, and to invest their money, time and skill, to apply their trades and to develop a profession, all while being near the families of the extended nation families – at home – here at Tsuut’ina.”

The project is being described as one of the largest First Nations’ developments in Canada.

It is being built in partnership with real estate development company Canderel.
