RCMP have charged two teenage boys with over a dozen offences following a Cold Lake-area crime spree that began to unfold with the theft of a pickup truck Friday night.

Cold Lake RCMP said they received a report of a theft in progress at a Cold Lake tow yard around 7 p.m. Shortly thereafter, police received calls about a hit and run and a gas and dash involving a truck with the same description. A fourth call was then made to police about a crash with injuries on Highway 28.

Mounties said when officers arrived at the scene they determined it appeared the stolen truck was involved and believed it was also connected to the previous calls as well.

Police said they believe the stolen truck was leaving city limits when it passed another vehicle on the shoulder of the highway before losing control, rolling and ending up in a ditch.
