Toronto Maple Leafs trade goalie Jonathan Bernier to Ducks for conditional draft pick

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded goaltender Jonathan Bernier to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional pick in the 2017 NHL draft.

It’s the second trade involving the two teams and goalies in as many months.

Toronto acquired Danish goaltender Frederik Andersen in June in exchange for the 30th overall selection in the 2016 draft and a second-round selection in 2017.

Bernier has an 88-88-23 overall record with 12 shutouts, a 2.67 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in 213 career NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings and Toronto.

The 27-year-old struggled out of the gate last season, going
0-8-1 over his first nine starts. He finished the year 12-21-3 with a 2.88 GAA and .908 save percentage in 38 games.

Bernier was acquired by Toronto from the Kings in exchange for Ben Scrivens, Matt Frattin and a second-round pick in 2015.
