West Kelowna residents going to the polls

Plans for West Kelowna city hall and civic centre. Global Okanagan files

West Kelowna residents will be heading to the polls on September 17 to vote on the fate of a proposed multi-million dollar city hall.

Voters are being asked to approve $7.7 million to build the city hall and civic centre.

Residents actually forced the referendum by rejecting an alternate approval process, which would have pushed the project through without a vote.

The entire project is slated to cost $10.5 million but some money has been set aside by the city from reserves and surplus.
