Bullied bus monitor Karen Klein starts anti-bullying foundation

TORONTO – Paying it forward, that’s what Karen Klein is doing. It seems fitting after so many people did the same when hearing about her story.

After a YouTube video surfaced of the 68-year-old bus monitor being bullied, the generosity of thousands of people raised more than $700,000 for Klein. Toronto native, Max Sidonov created the initial fundraising site. His goal was to raise $5,000 so she could go on vacation.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Now Klein is using $100,000 from that money to start her own anti-bullying foundation.

The Karen Klein Anti-Bullying Foundation is hosted @giveback.org, a site that empowers individuals to raise money. Part of funds will be used to support a music tour called the No Bully Tour 2012 that kicks off in the U.S. on October 5th. The tour’s aim is to raise awareness and funds for Klein’s foundation.

According to her site, the foundation’s aim is to provide funds for anti-bullying initiatives across the U.S. and the world, to create educational materials around bullying and to support other organizations involved with fighting bullying.

All the proceeds from Klein’s foundation will be donated to her cause.
