Police have one person in custody after a stolen cargo van crashed into a home in east-end Toronto early Friday morning.
The incident took place just before 4 a.m. at 816 Ellesmere Road just west of Kennedy Road.
Fire officials say the vehicle caught on fire following the crash and the flames reached the upper story of the residence.
All the occupants of the home managed to escape and no injuries were reported.
Officials say the driver fled the scene but was captured by police a short distance away.
Police say they were investigating a different matter nearby when they saw the van speed off without headlights on prior to the crash.
The age and identity of the driver have not been released.
