KELOWNA–Kelowna City Manager Ron Mattiussi was honoured with the Local Government Management Association’s Distinguished Member Award at the LGMA annual conference.
This year marks a 10-year anniversary as City Manager for Mattiussi, who has 36 years experience as a city planner and in senior management roles.
While unable to attend the conference in Nanaimo, Mattiussi did offer an acceptance statement.
“I am truly honoured and humbled to receive this award because it is from my peers and friends,” said Mattiussi.
He was acknowledged for his leadership during the 2003 Okanagan Mountain fire in Kelowna, and recently was asked to assist in a plan to get people back into their homes after the Fort McMurray fire.
Over the past decade, Mattiussi has helped to develop a course curriculum for community planners and Chief Administrative Officers.
The Distinguished Member Award is not handed out every year.
