A Friday storm passing through Lake Stevens, Washington, took a major toll on one large evergreen tree when a bolt of lightning shattered the tree in half.
Police in the town, located just east of Everett, tweeted the photos Friday evening, adding that the lightning caused the tree to explode and send debris up to 75 yards away.
Pieces of the tree apparently burst through a nearby fence and into someone’s backyard, but no injuries were sustained.
The region experienced heavy rain, lightning, and thunder into Saturday, causing power outages for thousands.
