Vancouver and Victoria are joining a growing number of cities around the world showing their support for the victims of a shooting that claimed the lives of 50 people, injuring 53 others, at a crowded Florida gay nightclub Sunday morning.
At 11:30 a.m. Monday, the City of Victoria raised then lowered to half-mast the Pride flag at the City Hall in memory of the lives lost in what’s now being called the worst mass shooting in United States history.
The Canadian flag was also lowered to half-mast.
The City of Vancouver also lowered the Pride flag to half-mast Monday morning.

On Sunday night, hundreds of people in Vancouver, including many members from the LGBTQ community, gathered outside the Vancouver Art Gallery and held candles to remember the victims of the massacre.
In addition, several Vancouver landmarks were lit up with the colours of the Pride flag to show support for the people of Orlando.
