Charges laid in Lord Selkirk II fire

Two teens are being charged with arson after a run down, burnt-out cruise ship moored in Selkirk Park caught fire.

The Lord Selkirk II was once a renowned pleasure craft was set on fire in mid-June. RCMP deemed the fire as suspicious and set on purpose.

Two male Selkirk teens were arrested, 15 and 17. Both teens are being charged with arson, said RCMP. They will appear in Selkirk court on September 28, 2012.

The Lord Selkirk II once travelled the waters of Lake Winnipeg and the Red River. It was retired 20 years ago. The ship was bought in 2010 and was slated to be dismantled for scraps.
