The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said an aircraft and boats are searching for the missing teen in the Inlet, which is home to the Malibu Club Young Life camp.

Sunshine Coast RCMP said their West Coast Marine Services and one of their helicopters are joining in the search.

It is believed the male may have been a camper. In a statement provided by Malibu Club, Aleesha Mathis said,

“The Young Life Mission is saddened by the recent tragic accident at Malibu Club after a camper entered the waterway at camp. The camp and Canadian search teams are currently searching for the camper. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this camper. We continue to care for and provide support to our guests and campers.”

Local boaters told Global News they are also helping with the search.
