Alleged fentanyl supplier busted in Edmonton; 1,000 pills, $50K in drugs seized

Approximately 1,000 fentanyl pills, 100 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana – with a street value of $50,000 – were seized by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team on May 27.

The drugs were seized during a traffic stop in south Edmonton.

Chestermere residents Cristian Guzman, 23, and Alexandra Prefontaine, 22, were jointly charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and drug possession.

The Edmonton seizure was the result of a spin-off investigation by Lloydminster RCMP.

On May 25, 30-year-old Mohamed Abdi was arrested and officers seized cocaine and cash proceeds of crime. ALERT said that arrest helped officers track down Abdi’s Chestermere-based supplier.

Abdi was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
