President’s Choice, Basse brand products recalled over Listeria fears

OTTAWA – Certain President’s Choice brand and Basse brand products containing sunflower seeds are being recalled due to possible Listeria contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning against the consumption of the products, which were sold nationally.

It also notes that distributors and food service establishments like hotels, restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use the products.

Presidents Choice brand Mountain Trail Mix, Roasted Sunflower Seeds Salted and Roasted Sunflower Seeds Unsalted, and Basse brand Unsalted Sunflower Seed Kernels, Unsalted Sunflower Seed, Hicking Trail Mix and Basse Alive Salad Topper mix with dried cranberries, sunflower seed kernels and walnuts are all part of the recall.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the products.

Food contaminated with Listeria can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and neck stiffness.
