WINNIPEG – It’s a tradition on budget day for the finance minister to buy himself a new pair of shoes.

But on Tuesday Cameron Friesen gave three pairs of shoes to a new Canadian family instead.

The Tewelde’s recently arrived to Winnipeg from Eritrea, Africa.

Five-year-old Senat Tewelde grinned when handed the new box.

The newly elected Progressive Conservatives will be presenting its first budget Tuesday afternoon.
