Funnel clouds spotted near Regina and Moose Jaw, Sask.

Environment Canada is warning about possible funnel clouds in areas near Regina and Moose Jaw, Sask. Monday afternoon.

According to Environment Canada, a funnel cloud was seen at 12:45 p.m. near Aylesbury, Sask. A few more funnel clouds have been seen northeast of Regina.

The weather agency says these types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation and they are not normally a danger near the ground. However, Environment Canada is warning that there is a chance the rotation could become a weak, small tornado.

The following Saskatchewan communities are under a weather advisory for funnel clouds: Regina, Moose Jaw, Pense, Central Butte, Craik, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling, Wawota.

Conditions are expected to become less favourable for funnel clouds this evening.
